Beautiful day out there today Dog. First trip of the year. Left the portage at 8:15 and was back by noon. 6 fish with 5 over 19". 13 down off Bessie. 5 of them on Black hair jig with white eyes.
2 19" milking walleye, lost one at the boat and had 4 hook ups, but they did not hold.
perch spreader did not produce on the bottom with emerald shiners and no bling.
(perch spreader is looking for yellow gold) seems like the limit of 30 yellow perch may be in question soon.
NW of Lakefront Marina in 15 fow.
Using a green hair jig with stinger hook tipped with shiners.
I cast the jigs and bounce them on bottom back to the boat, not always easy with a fast drift, next time the drift sock goes out.
9 am to noon, not many boats in the area.
wind did pick up and went from a .7 mph drift to 1.4 mph drift.
back at it soon weather permitting.

NW of Lakefront Marina again today (14 fow), 4 more milking male walleyes.
Spreader drag for perch did get a bite today but did not get a hook set.
Green jigs for the walleye tipped with a shiner.
Head boat worked the area but did not stay long and headed north west.
5 other boats were working the area and I did see some boats netting fish.
I did not see any trollers in the area, just jigging.
Camp Perry red flags were out and they were firing today.
3 hours today, most bites were early and noting in the last hour.
back soon,

3 more walleye (males), NW of Lakefront Marina , 13 fow close to H can area.
1 head boat working the area, and 4 other boats.
did have two hook ups but they did drop off quickly.
green jig, stinger, tipped with a shiner.
perch spreader did not have any hits today.
stinger hook was the champ, all were caught with the stinger hook.
some rain and the wind did vary.
Camp Perry had the strobe light out and the flags, did not see any can (H can) soon maybe.
back soon

6 sheep head, 2 walleye and the spreader scored a nice hog yellow perch.
many boats in the area and a lot of head boats working it too.
looks like all were jigging except for a few trolling.

Good job Dog. My last trip up I did good in that area. Was going to come up this weekend but my 2nd Maderna shot Friday did me in. Hoping to get up this week if the wind dies down a bit.
fished at H can today (18 fow) and caught 2 yellow perch, at it for a few hours, had other bites but no hook up.
headed in to work the area in 14 fow where the head boats and other boats were working it.

Went to G can to try my luck with the yellow perch using shiners, no bites.
Headed to the spot NW of Lakefront in 14 fow and started drifting, calm day 3-5 mph drift.
Put out the spreader with a shiner and a night crawler combo.
The spreader, scored a small mouth bass (returned unharmed) and one walleye, no yellow perch or sheep head.
The bass took the shiner and the walleye took the night crawler.
Using the green haired jib, tipped with a shiner and a night crawler, 4 walleye , all males, some still milking others not.
All the walleye were taking the main hook, must be hungry.
Back soon,
