    Smile Maumee bay success

Maumee bay was the place to be saturday evening. I took 3 kids with me we scored our limit in under 2 hours near turtle island in the shallows. Jacks were the largest I have seen in over 10 years on average. water is muddy. Purple and blue hair jigs worked best. Stingers were not required and no minnows. You must target to the fish directly. They were holding specifically on humps. you will have to move your boat as soon as you are off the hump. Lazy = no fish. Keep with that program and good luck. Jeff

just curious the cuts on the throat is that from bleeding them and can you really tell the difference in the fish when it is bled vs not doing it. Very nice catch thanks fo the report

    Smile Cutting the Throat

It does make a difference in flavor. I have been doing it for years. Keep my knife next to the pliers. I have a live well to bleed them out in then transfer to a cooler. It is messy without a live well.

    Wink Going again Wednesday evening

Deputy Dog said he can go, so, we go!
I will start with my same program. Tight on structure.
Dark colors in mud. 3/4 oz jigs so they thud on striking the bottom. Walleye prefer small rocks to spawn over. Youwill know when there are rocks because you
Will get zebra muscles on your jig.
Lifting rod evenly. No snapping. Lower the jig always keeping tension in the line. Only 6 inches to keep the jig in the strike zone. Walleye spawn on the bottom, unlike perch.
I buried the guts from Saturday in the garden. The puppies helped me find them today.
    Good luck!
    Jeff
