Ok, got some info. 2 guys came in the fish cleaning station with 5 steelhead. They said they fished 60 ft. They had some walleye too.
Yep I head to Avon and head north to about 70ft. Last year I did 3 trips and everyone was worth the drive.
Thanks for the info Jumpmaster hopefully I get to make it out this Friday. The wind is looking dam near perfect for the long run out.
we fish out of Geneva July through August and don't start fishing until were at 60' up to 80' unless we get reports of shallower fish.
but we fish for eyes but have caught as many as 5 steelhead in one day. we did catch a few using harnesses but spoons worked so much better on eyes and SH.
purple worked best for eyes but chrome with a blue back caught both, and orange caught SH the best. so, make sure you have some orange spoons. we fished 45' to 65' deep with lite bite slide divers using 7' Fluro leaders and not the slide part, 2.8 to 3.2 was our best speed.
Heading out now. Fingers crossed
Let us know how you do. I am going to get my boat fixed, and give it another go in a couple weeks.
Thank you, Rob!
Went all the way out to 79ft. Got bored trolling so we busted out the spinning rods and scoped up a bunch of walleye out there. Even caught a bonus steelhead while casting.
I didn't see a thermocline all day but fish were mostly around 40ft down.
Ended with 2 chrome and our limit of walleye. I'll be back in a few weeks for a other shot
How many miles out to get to that depth? Out of avon.
