Fall Boat cleaning
Pulled the boat this week and washed it for the winter. I have a fiberglass hard top and there’s lots of seagull poop on top. It is tough to get off. Anyone have any tips on how to clean it? They leave a thick scaly blob behind that is not soluble as best I can tell. I tried soap and scrubbing but too much left behind.

Re: Fall Boat cleaning
Can't say I have ever tackled seagulls poop but I can only imagine how tough it is once dried on. I would think that making a paste of something like dawn dish soap or mabey simple green and let it soak. Worse case is to get something like an oven cleaner but monitor and test it on a non noticeable area first. They make non marking scouring pads to remove crud and grime with no damage to the surface......good luck...

Re: Fall Boat cleaning
I don't know about seagull poop but my dad's fiberglass boat stays in the water all summer and gets a hard, scaley coating that won't come off with any amount of cleaner or elbow grease - except MARYKATE
On and Off Hull/Bottom Cleaner. We've tried other hull cleaners but this one has multiple acids in it and works great. Might also tackle seagull poop?

Re: Fall Boat cleaning
Just for fun I did a Google search for removing sea gull poop....lots of products out there that claim to take it off. Also a number of ideas that boaters are sharing to get it off.
Time to read up on poop !! Lol...

Try Clorox Clean up. I have had success with it in the past for stubborn spider poop stains and also stains from leaves

Re: Fall Boat cleaning
How about a power washer. Maybe soak first, then blast it off.

Re: Fall Boat cleaning
Here’s the update from cleaning the boat. I used a mild soap and warm water for everything and then used some Dawn dish soap with a plastic scrubber to do some deep cleaning of the hard top. I had to lightly scrape the thicker areas of seagull droppings as the soap wouldn’t touch it. After the scraping, it cleaned up pretty well.
The other thing I did was rejuvenated the outer hull fiberglass exterior. The bottom half of the hull is brown with a white top. The brown had lost a lot of the color so I used some Meguiar’s One Step Compound to remove the oxidation and then waxed it. The color is back to where it used to be. The boat is 8 years old so it was in need of some TLC. I highly recommend that product. I didn’t have a buffer so next time I will have one as it would make it much easier.
