    Default Perch

Perch bite was on fire today...two of us were east of A can in about 26' of water and they were hungry. Some dummies a few sheep's and white bass. Perch were average big in size ! Most were over 9" and one at almost 13" ! Had our limit in a little over two hours. 2' seas to start and bite was hot right at the start, bite slowed as did average size as the wind began to die down as noon approached. Not much time left to fill those freezer shelves !!

Got out today looking for Perch before season's end. Fished around the reef area of camp perry. Bite started sow, very slow for first couple hours moving four times. Finally ended up by Pickeral reef and got into a group if really nice Perch !! Biggest was just shy of 15" by a hair ! 6 others were over 12", and another 6 around the 11" mark. Only 6 under 9". Best quality and size we have saw in years ! Lots if boats taking advantage of a nice weekend to end the season. Shiners were small with some chubs mixed in but we ended with 36 awesome size perch for three of us.

Thanks for taking time to share your great day on the lake. How many more weeks do you think the perch will be active

Perch will hang around as long as the wind and weather are good. As the water cools down nearer 50 degrees they typically move shallower. Many are filled with eggs and wilk have a second spawn here when they nove in. Having an outboard where no real winter prep is needed, I go out when the weather permits. In past years I have fished right up to Christmas ! But typically hang it up by Thanjsgiving.

Well, I have a 18' Targa Tracker so I will be out a couple times, weather and wind permitting, I am getting an enclosure installed and looking forward to trying it out. My wife and I love going to Lake Erie. Again thanks for the post

Enclosure will be nice when the wind gets a bite to it when the cold sets in. I just dress for the weather including gloves when the cold hits. If you find a nice school of hungry perch, you will work up a sweat as you keep pulling them in !!
    LOL....

Perch were closed mouth today !! Thought I would take advantage of some last nice days, but fish did not cooperate. Lots of boats east of the intake so I mingled into the spread out pack, but only a couple bites. Made 4 moves, found good marks but only a few small biters. Ran out toward west sister but only a couple boats and no good marks so came back where I found marks. Ended the day with only 4 keepers, nice perch though, all were in the 10" range, everything else was 6" or less. Might try again tomorrow, last nice day before the weather turns...

Tried again today as the season is coming to a close soon ! Went out to A and B can area and no one around, didn't see any schools on the fish finder either, so went back to the intake area. Saw a group about a mile off shore between the intake and Metzger Marsh canal. 16' of water and some decent marks showed. Worked for well over an hour trying to get a bite on my crappie rigs, but non to be had. Noticed others using spreaders, made the switch and bingo, started getting bites. Size were much smaller than prior outings, average was about 9" with some over and a bunch under 8".... nice day on the lake, one the bite started had a busy hour and a half, the scary part is that might be the last trip this year......ouch !

Just curious if u have a fish count? And if u motored to A and B can regardless of marking fish why didn’t u drop anchor for a bit to check for yourself.
