    Default Eyes back west?

Seems everyone has gotten tight lipped with the "Fall Brawl" . Just wondering if the walleye usually move back west of the islands this time of year. Will be up to Kelleys Island first weekend of Oct. and thought about hitting American Eagle, maybe the Green can by Mouse, Mouse Is. reef, etc. but just thought I would see if those would be a waste of time for numbers. (not looking for size, never am, just a handful of eaters and some fun)

    TIA!!

We trolled North of West Sister Island last Tuesday in 29-30 FOW. We were marking tons of fish but only had 4 Walleye and two of those were fat but short.
According to the radio chatter the perch bite was slow that day as well.
Still some weeds floating around over this way but a lot better than previous weeks.
We pulled worm harness and then tried plastic and spoons. They were not interested in anything.
Nobody I know of our way are even fishing for anything but perch now.

Even the perch bite has been slow, this long dry spell with constant easterly winds have made the fish not hungry ! There are a few that have found hungry schools but for most of us, fishing gas been poor in the western basin. With winter fast approaching, hope the bite picks up or it might be a long cold winter with no fish to eat !! Scary......

Water temperatures in the Western Basin are still in the 72-73 degree range. All the sunlight and the hot days have kept the temps up. Fish are still acting like it's late summer. We're just a week or two behind the average, which for late September is around 68 degrees. The temperature has actually gone up from back in the middle of the month. Then it was just under 69 degrees, now it's back up to near 72. We just have to wait until it drops into the 60's and keeps going down slowly. That will trigger more feeding and walleye movement back into the Western Basin. Walleye fishing is still real good Huron east. I heard of a guy in Erie PA that supposedly caught a 38 inch one last week. That said, there are enough walleye in the deeper waters out along the border that you can catch your smaller size limit. I heard of two guys that caught a limit last weekend up along the line from North Bass to Middle Islands. Perch fishing has been spotty, but there have been limits of nice size perch caught in Maumee Bay and around the Camp Perry range. The traditional areas off Marblehead and Kelleys as well as around the Bass Islands should start producing soon.

Opps. Probably 32 inches. Supposedly the fillets alone weighted eight (8) pounds. I'm guessing there is a little exaggeration going on. But the source is credible. To the degree fisherman always tell "the truth, and the whole truth".

Yeah 38" would be a freak fish for sure.Think longest eye I've ever read about was 34" and that is extremely rare.If looking for walleye west of the islands now, would try casting the reefs. The walleye usually start feeding on the rocks the 3rd week of September but that date varies. We caught a couple walleye casting last week on gull Island reef and missed 2 other fish. Was going to try some other reefs on east side of Pelee, but the bugs were too bad for John so headed east to troll.Found fish on the line from 40/31 to 40/26 deep.Caught limit on dipsies 3 @ 90 and 95; 1@ 70,75 and 80 using

they do get 38" but that is huge fish and rare. I just imagine the 16# or larger might get to that length. he might have had a new state record. The largest I have seen is 33" which my youngest son caught about 15 years ago out of Geneva Ohio. we caught a few large fish that trip but his 33" was the largest fish caught on my boat in the 45+ years I've been fishing Erie.
