Detroit River 5/08/09
Went out with fellow angler LAKatidid (Keith) to the exact same spot that I went out with Salmonroy on Tuesday. This time we nailed 'em! Limited out with an extra one as we pulled in lines. 13 eyes handlining (6 man limit in river) in 5 hours. We launched at 12:00 p.m. and worked the cow pasture from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. pulling spoons. The hot spoons were Shad and perch colors. We caught over 30 smallmouth and about 20 silver bass also. The difference today was the clouds and overcast sky. We also had a little rain and dodged some major thundershowers. The fish ranged in size from 14 in. to 22 in. In Canada where we fished there is no size limit and it's illegal to throw back small fish. You have to take them. Luckily we got all decent sized fish and no dinks. Of course we returned an extra one! Sorry for the grainy cell phone shot.
Great day!
Steve
