4/14 jigging

Went out with my son and daughter this morning. Much tougher than yesterday. We worked hard for 3 1/2 hours and ended with 11 nice fish. The surprise was first time fishing for my daughter in 15 years or so and she caught a 26 1/2" spawned out female. It was her first fish of the day.

We we spent the first couple hours in front of Davis Besse in 11 feet of water and slowly worked our way out to locust reef. There just wasn't enough wind to move the boat today. Purple 3/4 ounce jigs with nothing on them.

Friend went out on a head boat out of Port Clinton today. 2 fish for 30 people. He said they didn't hear anyone else was doing better. I heard some boats in the LEWT jigging tourney did well somewhere around Kelleys Island.

I jigged out of oak Harbor, 9th through 16th. 4-6 man limits every day. We fished early, started in dark. The warmer the weather got, the earlier we went out. Bite slowed after 9am and fish slid deeper.

My buddy just left oak harbor on tuesday. Was catching 4-6 man limits the last 10 days when fishable. Last week there was a day too windy and one day short a limit. He said no one was even jigging the last few days. His last day monday . limit by 9am and only boat in the area he fished. My opinion, jigging is hands on and more fun than trolling. Seems people quit early this year.
