Perch 9/20/22 Catawba/Marblehead

Decided to try perch on Tuesday (9/20/22). Got some beautiful Shiners from Jennetts on Catawba and some local info on where the perch bite was. Tried directly in front of Lakeside pier first. Marked lots of fish but caught nothing in 20 minutes so we pulled anchor and headed west. Stopped just northeast of Mouse island with all the other boats; including several charters and 2 headboats. Fished there from 9:30-1:30 pm. Kept 25 perch 8-11.5 inches (9lbs at cleaner) and threwback as many, 7 inches and smaller. Lots of marks but a slow bite for us. They turned on for about 30 minutes around 11 but then slowed again. Also caught and released 4 dink walleye plus 2 that were 14 inches.

Thanks for the report. Do you know if they are catching any around Oak Harbor. I am thinking about making the drive Saturday and would like to launch out of Wild Wings.

I do not. Hottest bite is reported further west around Toledo water intake.

Thanks Baha299 for Catawba perch report. Caught 26 nice perch this morning. My buddy caught PB 12.3/4 inch perch. Several over 10 in. Nothing fancy, simple crappie rig. Two thumbs 👍 up.
