    Default 9/18 walleye/perch report

We had a ball today with these kids and their dad from southern Ohio. We started out walleye fishing north of Kelly’s island 46-50’ of water blue chrome 50/100 2oz and dipsy with purple and chartreuse spoons 0/50, 1.5/65, 3.0/80 did most of the catching at 2.5 and boated 10 in about an hour and half and a cat fish then the waves put a stop to that so we headed in close to catch some perch and get out of the wind. We fished middle harbor shoal and caught some very nice sized perch and a steel head that identified as a perch and hit a perch rig, almost ripped the pole out of the young ladies hand but she handled it well and got him in the boat. Great day with the kiddos to spite the wind

Thanks for the report Captain ! I always enjoy yours and Capt Juls posts ! Went out North of Kelly's yesterday and what a beautiful morning on the water! I could not get much going in the form of perch (or walleye for that matter). I worked 38-45' of water from the western tip of KI up to KI shoal and managed only 15 perch. In my search for perch my fish finder was lit up with walleye from 25-45'. So we decided to troll using bandits, spoons, and maglips to no avail. trolled 2.1-2.8mph and fished up and down the column. To my surprise not a single walleye ! Maybe they were all Steelhead ! LOL ! Morale of the story : "Sometimes you get the Bear and sometimes the bear gets you !"
