Fished 7/30 & 7/31. On Saturday started by trolling all around Huron dump. On each side was running 2 bandits on offshore boards & stinger spoons on a dipsy #2 setting and a TT40. It was exhausting filtering through all the WP/WB and small walleye so eventually moved further west to SE of CP dump in 37-40fow. It was in this area that we caught mostly walleye although there were still a bunch of throwbacks and a majority of the keepers were cookie cutter 16”. There was a big pack of boats in this area on Sunday. Since we noticed the spoons were out fishing the bandits about 2-1, we decided to scrap that part of the program and replace with just one more dipsy side (#1.5 & #3 setting) (also our rationale was that it was to cumbersome to keep checking the boards for small walleye so we were just wasting time dragging tiny walleye—much easier to check the dipsys and jet divers at regular intervals). Finished with 15 on sat & 14 on sun. A large purple bear purple stinger spoon on a #3 dipsy 64 feet back (this was changed to 80 feet back as the day warmed up) & a red white and blue worm burner on a 40tt 75 feet back produced the best. We tried to target the stacks of walleye just chilling on the bottom but couldn’t get them to bite. A beautiful weekend out on the lake.
