Thread: 7 day forecast

    Default 7 day forecast

Are there any days in the next 7 that look fishable to anyone? We were looking at making our first trip over this yera and planned on coming in on 3/31-4/8 but not sure if it is worth the trip or not.

It depends on the size of your boat, how reliable it is, how many days you want to fish, and your tolerance for waves and rain.

Monday and Tuesday should be fishable if you are not in a small boat. Key word is should, the weather is very unstable this time of yesr and predictions are guesses at best.

Thanks for the reply. We have a new Alumacraft Trophy and are pretty tolerant to weather, I was concerned about the waves more than anything as we havent been over there yet and dont want to just sit on shore. We did make multiple reservations for different weeks, I am just not sure when to cancel this one if we decide it is a wash.

    And your tolerance for cold.

Sorry for the dual post but the bottom of my previous post got lost.

As for quality of fishing, it could be tough after this weeks blow. If you wait for stable weather you won't get to fish until summer. IMHO, fish when the lake lets you. There are plenty of fish in right now, you may just need to work harder to find bitters.

Another factor is wind direction. The walleye are in close to shore through April, on and around the reefs and shoals. If there are high winds but out of the southwest, south, or southeast, you can find areas to fish within 1/2 - 1 mile from shore in the lee. You can get decent to limit catches in some of these areas. So keep that in mind. As always be ready to change plans (different launch ramp) and be able to get off the water quickly if necessary.

And if you can't fish the Lake for a day the Maumee and Sandusky Rivers are an option. Maumee for a larger boat, out in front of Perrysburg.

I would recommend to reschedule your week of fishing at a later date. The weather has been bad for last week and forcast looks worse.Looking like another cold front coming in on Friday. With all this wind lake should be getting pretty muddy.Especially the reef complex.Only saving grace is there has not been any extended NE blow or any in forcast. Will also take a while after all this wind and fronts to get good fishing again
