7/22 Big Board Weed Problems

Trolled 7/22 and 7/23 with big planer boards and had major problems with the floating algae. Algae was bad enough to almost sink one of the planers. It would foul up snap weights and lures almost as soon as we had all lines out. Is there a solution to this problem or do we just switch to jigging. Any advice is always appreciated. Thanks

Have never heard of algae sinking large boards.But I have heard of guys trolling having problems with grass or weeds floating.The grass with hit the line off those big boards and run down to the tru trip and foul them up.If its bad enough the charters will have to move to another area with less grass.The inline boards don't foul as much in that grass due to line from board is already below the water line.If running a dipsey can attach a release a few feet below water to catch the grass.Usually see more grass after a big blow or in the late summer.

Was fishing by Niagara reef with no problems picked up 9 then bite slowed moved towards b can where weed problems started. Friday started out in front of crane creek lot of marks but weeds were still a issue.

Hate to see these weeds come so early .. either go east in deeper water or switch over to Perch rods
