Has anyone got experience using the dipsy mini, I was wondering if it works good trolling shallow for spring walleye instead of plainer boards.

Usually trolling pretty slow speeds for spring walleye, in which, any weighted diver tends to work more against you than for you.. I don't think Dipsy's really start to run true until you're reaching 1.5 or better on the speed. Much below that, they're more of a sinker than a diver.

Trolling in the spring would be at 1.5 or faster. I was just wondering if you do troll 1.5 or more would the small mini be better or worse than a plainer board. I realize the dipsy would dive and a plainer wouldn't but the mini doesn't dive very far down at 50 back so was curious which would be better.

Planer board trolling cranks would produce much better than any dipsey imho.

I can't really say..... I think you lost me at 1.5 in the spring. Most of our early spring to mid spring days are spent at 0.8 to 1.1, maybe 1.2 ... and we're pulling cranks, without weight whenever possible...

I didn't realize that you trolled that slow in the spring. I'll make a note if that. Plainer boards it will be.
