Hey eyecrazy, was thinking about your new boat and your rod setup with braid. You will be fishing more often in cold water and using cranks with the boat you have now.Could just add 100ft mono to a couple rods or half your setup and see if the mono really helps or not. That's what Capt Eric did and he thought it helped enough to do all his reels for early crank bite.I was adding line and calibrating some reels a couple nights ago and 100ft did not change the spool diameter very much.

That sounds like a good plan. I’ve never fish mono with my boards so we will see how it goes. What brand and test have you guys been using?

I've been using 15# Maxima ultragreen. Most guys use 10 or 12# due to diameter closest to dive curve.I used heavier because spooled my buddies rods and he was a novice. Was afraid lighter test he was apt to break off stuff.Got used to 15# so kept it.Don't seam to have problems with dive curves and leads.

I know you post your results and enjoy reading them.Let us know if the mono does better than braid when pulling cranks too.

I'm running 20# Trilene XT, low vis green... same line I always use for my 6' leaders.

If that’s good enough for all the fishing you do, it’s good enough for me! Lol

Hey Bob, you ready for the shakedown runs this year? If Mother Nature stays calmed down, we're only about 52 days away now!
