Default walleye sunday @ turtle creek

went out of fenwick 230pm sunday. was back on dock at 5pm with 8 21"+ eyes. Had another 8 or so that didn't quite make it to the net. Fishing in 14-16 fow with 3/4 oz puple hair jigs and shiners. casting 30-40 ft to sides of boat and bouncing off bottom. water was somewhat clear but went through some stained water.

Wind is your key. It is bouncing out there now. Was yesterday to. We just can't shed these east winds. It is 30 knots here at Maumee Bay today. It is supposed to go to SE tonight, then eventually swing west. Right now it looks like it will be west and much better Thursday. Have fun, be safe, and knock the snot out of them.

    Default winds

    Mike,

I am from Illinois area and have a 19ft Deep V. Was wondering if you could give me some help on the wind factor out there. What is a good wind Vs Bad wind direction. I would think South or South/east is best? Any help would be great. I am interested in fishing the reef's and was thinking about launching in the Oak Harbor area?

Thanks for any help you can give this newbe!

    Default Best winds

There is a web site I am putting on here that gives Wind Direction and wave height for lake erie. I never leave or plan to go to the big water without checking this web site

Copy and paste this into your search engine
    good luck

North and Northeast winds are the worst by far, any amount over 10 mph and it begins to kick up some. Someone once said that every 5 mph on erie creates one foot of wave. Not an exact science, but somewhat of a gauge. Lake Erie is so hard to say. I've seen it breezy on shore, and not so bad off shore. Goofy lake to predict. I usually check the winds on South Bass and the Toledo Harbor Light and go from there. The forecast can change every 8 hours out there.

I live near the bay. You could always pm me and I can give you a feel for the weekend.
