Default Two trips yesterday for big fish

I had two trips yesterday and both targeted big fish. We ran bandits on one side 75 to 125 back and p-10’s 20/20 to 30/30 back with 2 oz. morning trip we fished the monument and pulled fish 8 to 10 lbs each. Afternoon trip we fished between Catawba and G can and pulled some very nice fish 12.4 lb and several right around 10 lb some really good big fish water right now. Had a blast with both crews and a couple fish headed to the taxidermist. I canceled my trip today as we had some kids on the trip and I didn’t feel the waves and cold northeast wind would be good for them.

Great report porkchop! Can I ask how deep p10s got with the 2oz weight and the 20/20 and 30/30 set up? Thanks!

20/20 puts it down about 15 to 16 feet at 1.3 and 30/30 is about 21 feet down I also ran 25/25 which was the sweet spot Yesterday that is about 18 down. Yesterday we need to cover 15 to 22 feet of water column as that is where the fish where. It’s a bit easier to cover with 12 boards out. You have to be a bit more precise with half that.

I have never been out on Erie before...What would be the optimum time to drive four hours and catch some good fish. I don't have to catch the giants to be content I just want to get them trolliing or casting. I am new to all this. Thanks

I would say if you want your best chance to good eaters and lots of action I would say mid may through early June.

Fish are crazy hungry, weather is much more stable, not too crazy hot, casting is good, trolling with spoon will be on fire.

Wont have to travel far then either normal launch out of mazurik and fish the channel between main land and kellies
