    Default Tru Trips

I noticed the use of Tru Trips went away about August and everyone switched to dipseys.
Can you all explain why you drop the Tru Trip use in the late summer?
    Thanks

We have been using them still. Not sure why others might have swapped.

Even in the rougher water sat we pulled a 6 man limit, 40 tt from 25-90. Set a high side and low side......ran 50tt on the corners with displays #2 beyond them.

We would pick 3 or 4 fish on the high side, then the low side, then the high side, went back and forth all day. The larger fish came on the shorter leads 40-25

Ben,Nice to see you guys still catching your limits trolling. Most of the charters using big boards run the TT40s with spoons still. They have been very effective combo to run and have caught a ton of walleye. The TT40s pull to hard with our inline boards. That is why we run our spoons off the dipseys.I believe the turbulence created by the dipsey and TT40 attract the fish.I have some TT30 that work behind my inline boards and do run them with spoons at certain times of year. But,the dipseys are much easier and faster to use than an inline board.

You can run 40tt behind offshore boards with a few modifications. I run then in my own personal boat. 3 per side with no issues, with working tattle flags. PM me your number and I will be more than glad to walk you through the mods. Very easy and minimal. Plus easy to swap back and forth in just minutes

I have ran the tt40's behind offshore boards most of the summer as well. I have no problem with the flag still working. Just have to make a few adjustments as Ben has stated. The newer tattle flag kits work better because they have higher pre drilled holes in the flag already which really tightens up the spring, but you can make the older flags work as well. I have ran 5 boards per side with the tt40's and have had no issues. The only time there is an issue is when the waves are 4' then the flags can catch your other lines, you have to spread them out a bit more with big waves. I ran spoons, spoon harnesses, double willow blade harnesses and shallow diving body baits behind them all with success.

The new flags are like 3 bucks each. Not even worth drilling the old. The other models is taking the screw eye from the front and relocating it to the rear much lower and moving the rattle flag tow arm through the new eye.

This stops pulling the board down in back from the top corner allowing the front angled section back into the water..........

But if you try to run cranks this way the board pull so far up that when you turn they fall over very easy.

I have pics I can send but they are not adding here

I ran tt40's earlier this Summer. I did move the weight all the way forward in my OffShores though, bit this was because of using other rigs that pulled them back a bit. I had no problems, but there are generally no more than 4 in the water. Usually 2

I first tried mivingbthevweights on mine.........which required cutting to stopper out and drilling new retaining hole.

I tried the rubber band instead of springs early on too.

With the new flags I like the spring. Flags work even in rough enough water to skip the boards........but when flat I can really loosen then up. And the arm relocation works so much better than moving the weights its not even funny. I can't quite turn as sharp as big board boats can, but they pull pretty hard.......hard enough you can't read my med rods when dinks are on.......which is why I like the flags
