I had one similar , hated it, thought is was good idea and never worked as well as I thought, had to anchor off front all of the time and when perch fishing the boat swings. Anchor off back no swing. and retrieving still takes two, and than need to secure it

I found the solution, A anchor retrieve ball, just hooks on anchor line ,power up slowly and the anchor releases and ball bring it to surface every time smooth or rough water.been using it on my 25 Grady 4 years .

Also the price is much less than Windless, only $100.

I am too considering the anchor ball since my Reg does not have a windlass nor would it look right on it. I believe it is probably the best route to go unless it is a complete pain to get to the bow of your boat. Some days I would not recommend anchoring to the stern!

Had Lewmar Pro Fish 1000 installed on my 26 ft. Thompson. Best thing I put onboat. No more lifting anchor. Can use plenty of chain to help anchor set. Can see no difference in perch fishing with boat swing. Some days helps bait stay on bottom better, lift rod fish on. Make sure you have plenty of anchor line free fall into anchor storage area.
