After returning from a trip to Marblehead yesterday I can attest to the report that the mayfly hatch is under way and is huge. We struggled. Only 3 keepers in 3 days with many short fish 13 to 14 inches and some 6 inchers from last year thrown in. It is very difficult for me to read boards when a 6 inch fish grabs the hook and hangs on. I trolled for over an hour once before checking the spoons only to find little walleyes on both lines. No idea how longs they had been swimming along. We tried North of Kellys to Gull Island, west and east of Kellys with meat and spoons. Lots of marks, mostly down deep. No takers. All of thye successful guys I talked to were way east, some past Pelee. Every time I start to think I know something about Lake Erie I am shortly reminded that I do not. I'll give it a couple of weeks and try again. $500 worth of filets in a sandwitch bag.
