    Default safety equipment question

I am in the process of outfitting my boat for a week long trip to Erie the first week of Aug.. Was noticing on the Odnr web site i am required to have a distress signal visible both day/night. Was just curious what you guys use for this. Just want to play by the rules. I do not have much luck with law enforcement. Was coming home from work one night last week and was pulled over . The officer said the reason he pulled me over was that my trailer hitch ball was obstructing the view of my licsense plate. Thanks in advance for any response/ suggestions. Mike

Hand held flares are for both day and night. I also have an orange plastic distress flag which is obviously day only. When you purchase your flares check the date on them as they have an expiration date. expired flares are the same as no flares in the eyes of the law
