    Default Anchor Ball

Has any of you ever use one of these? My boat would need some very costly modifications to mount a windlass so I am thinking of one of these. My old bones hate anchor pulling and EmptyHooks is not always along to do the anchor pulling for me.

I placed the order yesterday and received the ball today, you have to inflate it yourself but it is easy. I will give it a try this weekend if the winds stay away. The wife has no patience for walleye fishing but loves to perch fish and she has already started to bug me about going perching a month ago. So to satisfy her I am taking her this weekend, besides she is a good sport and catches her fair share of perch and is also a great fishing companion.

    Smile Thanks Wakina!

Haven't been perch fishing this year yet but will do a lot in the fall.
I hate pulling in the anchor myself! I am getting old too.
If this ball works like the video shows I will have one too.

Please, let us know how well it works for you.

I am hoping to go tomorrow and will post back the results! The web address for purchase is for a business near Dayton and if you order before 2:00 pm Mon -Thursday you will get it the next day if you live in NW Ohio. And most likely the next day if you are serviced by FedX out of SHELBY, OH for deliveries.

I didn't get a true test/trial with the ball, the hook was in the mud so far that both myself and emptyhooks could not break it lose. We finally got the rope straight down and tied of to the cleat and backed the boat down with the motor until the anchor broke free. We will give it a whirl again next week end.

    Default Anchor Ball use

I was the first one in Erie, PA to use this system to retrieve my anchor and I still use the same technique. The ball should have at least 30 lbs of bouyancy (12" dia) and will slide down the anchor line by use of a large steel ring. Now motor away from the set at a 45 to 90 degree angle keeping an eye on the ball so as not to run over the line. When the ball slides down the line, the anchor frees itself and will be caught at the ball. Now stop the boat and retrieve your anchor and ball easily.

    Cheers, DocWet
