Default Sam's Pro OR39 release question

I picked up some OR39 planer board releases to try with braid and I have a question. It can be attached with the screw like the snapper releases I have now or it can be attached with the included split ring. Any opinions on what is the best/preferred way and why? thanks.

I use the screw and attach it to the bracket. Just seems more secure that way, to me.

I used the key ring method with great results. Also found is setting off of the port side wrap clockwise, and counter clockwise for starboard.
