    Default Gas tank Vent

I have a 94 Sportcraft 252 Fisherman I bought at the end of last fishing season.
The fuel tank fill is on the side of the starboard gunwhale close to the top about where the hardtop comes down. The vent is forward of the fill about 8".
The vent is black and does not have any cover over it to keep any water from getting down there in heavy waves.
Can someone who owns a Sportcraft 252 post a pix of what theirs looks like. I have no idea if this is normal or not.
    Thanks

there should be a cap that snaps on you will have to buy the whole vent assembly then just use the cap out of kit

    Thanks.
I saw an Attwood vent system and they also sell the cap separate. Just don't know if it will fit.

Thanks for your help Billy Joe. It's ordered. Shipping was more than the part.

I have a friend that had an older Starcraft with a fueling setup like yours. He had trouble several times with water in his gas - I had to tow him in twice - cost him a lot of money. Turned out his side vent cap was forward of his his filler cap and the vents on the bottom were facing forward - when he ran in rough water the spray would go right in thru the vent and into his gas tank. Make sure the breather vents are facing toward the stern. He took his boat to marine repair shops to have the gas pumped out, carbs rebuilt, water separator installed, etc, $$ - all said BAD GAS - BS. Only to happen again. We finally figured it out while drinking beer after towing him in - very disappointing when you think about it.
