    Default Lorain 5/14

Got out before the rain today... first trip of season... .. Decent scattered marks... set up just north of Harbor. Got 3 ... Bandits 2 oz 110
Then the rain came. Like the song said "its only the beginning"..... Lorain is a great place to fish! Looking forward to another enjoyable season.

Where's the best place to launch at in Lorain? Never been there. New to Lake Erie walleye fishing.

If they didn't fix the docks at Hot Waters yet, go to Grumpys on Broadway. It is a little bit longer getting to the lake, but well maintained.

Did they fix the docs yet?

Thanks for the info, guys. I've been launching out of Fairport mostly, but man I hate that drive, especially coming back home.

Finally got the chance to launch out of Grumpy's Friday. Took about 15 minutes to get to the lake, but not a bad ride despite quite a bit of debris floating in the river. The lake was pretty flat and winds were about 4-5 mph. Got several just out from the river in about 40 ft. Trolled east about 2 miles, battling the midges, turned around and headed west, catching 5 in about a half hour. When I approached the mouth of the river again, the bite got really hot! I was solo, so I kept my limit, but caught well over a dozen in the short time I was out. The east wind kicked up and I headed in. A gold stinger, 0 dipsy, 45 ft back did well, but the hottest spoon was my Daredevle King Flutter. 0 setting 65 ft back proved really effective. Was glad when the wind picked up and made the bugs leave. lol Good day on the lake!

Thanks, Jonny. My speed was 1.9-2.1. Used the 0 dipsys. Can't wait to get back up there again! Do you mostly launch out of Fairport? I'm still becoming familiar with the areas that are best to launch from.

You're welcome. Ok thanks for that.
Yes I do, I dock on the Grand River because I found the best prices for dockage there haha.
Plenty of fish but I'm hearing there are way bigger ones off the Gold Coast of Cleveland. Who knows though... Finicky fish that change from day to day.
