Left West Harbor about 4:15 with my 12 year old son and high hopes headed for south side of Kellys where had heard fish were hanging around, and saw some boats there. Mayflies everywhere on the surface. WE started casting weigh forward lures in 31 feet, but nothing. WE moved East around the island to 24 feet of water, and where it began getting shallower and got two sheep at ten feet in the water column. Headed SW toward the lighthouse and set two lines in 30 feet of water with 40 Tru Trips and Stinger spoons. One was perch pattern and one was a white with diff colored dots. Ran them 35 back and 40 back. Were were running between 2.3- 2.7 with no bags out. Only caught one little guy 40 back on the white. Squall came through at 6:30 and we packed up, through on the rain gear and headed the Montauk through some short choppy waves to home. Will try it again Sat to see what that will bring farther East toward the border line.
