I won't make a prediction on ice but the extended 15 day forecast on weather.com for Port Clinton there are 10 days at 31 or more above freezing and 9 of those days have lows of only 24 or above, with highs in the mid 30s. AccuWeather is even worse than weather.com for the Ice Fishermen, with a lot of warm weather thru January. But extended weather forecast is a educated guess at best.

Really Wakina, dig out your crystal ball I need a good prediction for March on (boat wise). I have new Bandits (yr.old) that need to be drowned and need to use those new combos.

The days in the mid 30s won't hurt anything. With the shorter days ,that is only a few hours a day above freezing.
Belowing freezing is below freezing no matter what. The winds will decide the future ice conditions on the lake as it tries to build. Give me 32 for a high and 25 for a low. We will still make ice at those temps.

I've seen the lake ice up after Jan 1 so there's hope.

Getting So Close!-12-19-16-jpgI'd say this is a good start for this early. If only we can keep from having a big blow to break it up.

Not crazy at all. On normal winters out of Crane Creek , we fish near open water out there .

People got use to the 13 and 14 winters when we had Record ice. Of course those were special years.

Normal ice seasons on Erie ,you need a ton of knowledge and common sense to fish safely. After next weeks weather ,we will be starting all over on the lake.
