Been hearing nothing but terrible reports for perch around the islands, so has there been any better luck finding some walleyes, further west than the CP dumping ground? I hear they will migrate back...

Awesome. Gonna have to give it a try. Don't have any perch (yet), but have several walleye fillets waiting to be cooked up.

Catawba state park has a boat launch and Jeanette's bait is right up the road. There's also a boat launch in West Harbor, right by Midway Marina. And Herb's Bait is right up the road from there

I think the gravel dock is on the west side of the island right next to West Bay bar/restaurant, but don't quote me on that

I've seen guys leaving their engines running once they set anchor. It's another way of "chumming". Think of it as a way of saying "we're here, come get some tasty shiners"

The cans are yellow. There are also smaller white cans in between the yellow ones out there. They aren't shown on the map. Some gaps between yellow cans have more than one white can.

Got 50 in 3 hours right on D can today. Didn't get out there til almost 2:00 in the afternoon. 3-5's this morning didn't look promising. Ended up being a beautiful day on the water once it laid down.

Is Round Reef inside the firing range? I haven't heard of it and when I googled, that's what came up.

The mayflies might slowdown the walleye bite a bit. But the last 2-3 years, we were still catching em around the islands into late July/early August.
