Good advice, because it's a bit of a crapshoot. In my experience when forecasts have called for one foot waves I turn around about 10 percent of the time because it's too rough for my 18.5' Lund....

I have to agree about right place right time, Jeff. Most of the success we've had this year was because other anglers were generous with their advice. Same goes for colours - we found that black and...

How can a thread with only 15 posts have over 5,000 hits? Could it be that people who fish walleye out of Pt. Colborne are interested in getting information but not so keen on providing it?...

Several km south of where you launch and just north of the border is where I'm targeting. Got to wait for the Lake to settle down before venturing out that far but it looks interesting for salmonids....

    inaccurate marine weather reports

We've been stung a couple of times this summer by inaccurate marine weather reports. One foot waves reported, three/four foot waves actual. Got to the launch mid morning a week or so back and didn't...

We've been thinking seeking out salmon and steelhead on Erie for a change of pace. Has anyone got any advice (besides "don't...

Actually not working too well behind the boards. Just too much drag on the line and hard to detect strikes.

Thanks for the feedback on line weights. I think I'll up it a bit.

Thanks for the feedback. I've been using 12 lb Berkley Vanish, which I worry is a little light for the larger dispseys when back of a planer board - I've been using size 0 and 1. Any recommendations?
  24. Getting down deep - dipseys and conventional weights

I've fished walleye all my life but only recently in Erie. I've had to learn about it all over again. I'm finally starting to get some good catches. I hear a lot of chatter on 68 about dipseys and...

    depth of slip sinkers

These are 2 oz slip sinkers. We're getting down to 50-60 feet with them. Easy to use. Let out sufficient line until you're just tapping the bottom then bring it up a few turns.
