Went out of east harbor Yesterday and today out around Kelly's. Was bad yesterday only caught sheepshead and whites. But today was better managed to get 14 eyes, lost a few at the boat, and threw six back that we're under length. Many of the guys on the radio were not doing that we'll either. There were a lot of boats to the north by the line not sure how it was out there. Gonna try it again tomarow, hope we get some more again. We were using 40s 50 back with spoons green seemed to do the best
i would guess this time of year they would be maybe east of kellys about midway off the island in 20 30 fow??
You did much better than most. We were out that day as well and marked a ton NE of Kelley's, but only found 8 takers. We were pulling harnesses at 1 - 1.4. Lots of bait stealers in that area. We tried pulling spoons for about an hour or so and only caught 1 throw-back, so we switched back to harnesses. What speeds were you pulling your spoons at? Were you using big boards or in-line boards? When-ever I pull spoons with in-lines, I always have a hard time telling when we have a junk fish on the line, since the divers pull so hard to begin with. Seems like we always end up dragging around a few white perch or white bass until we bring the lines in to check them. How do you get around that issue?Quote:
