New Kid on the block ! Ice out ?

Hello Folks, We will be joining the walleye seen this year the first time with friends and family, and supporting our own fully equipped rig, a 24, Sportcraft WAC..We have a seasonal dock lined up, and are looking for some input on when to plan on putting boat in the water for the season. We are experienced in trolling and know the basics...The question is...should we be prepared to jig fish and cast to the toothed critters or should we be considering trolling right out the gate.
