Hey guys I plan on trying the night walleye fishing this year by casting cranks on the rocks. Just wondering what the best thing to throw would be. If you guys have any experience or advice on night fishing the lake I would love to hear your input, thanks ( I don't troll )
Typically once the water temp is above 65 degrees this technique is effective. So June thru sept IMHO.

I would try wiggle warts, wee'warts and small hot-in-tots they worked in the late'80s should work now. I haven't done that in over 20 years. Just be careful if you decide to fish Crib Reef at night its dangerous enough in the daylight.Quote:

Get set up before dark and be as quite as you can as the hump fish spoke very easy .
Have been out 3 times at night so far with at least a 3 man limit every night so far. I always start with the Little Rippers then go to a shallower bait as the night goes on as the fish are there for one reason ... to feed .
The night casting works during the whole season IMHO not just the summer months . The fall bite happens right off the shore as many know from Toledo all the way to Cleveland .

I've had success at maumee bay state park right off the concrete break wall. It's feast or famine. Chrome minnow baits worked the best. Also caught some pretty big bass large and smallmouth.
