Anywhere along the shoreline where you have deep water next to the shore... look for lots of lights along the shore to attract the bait fish. I mostly cast a crankbait as far out as I can and make all kinds of action with it. You may have 4 hours of nothing and then 20 mins to catch you limit.. I like the marblehead lite house, the lakeside pier, and the huron lite house. . Its funny watching the fisherman casting long ocean shore rods for the eyes... you have to be able to cast it way out... good
Huron pier is an excellent place to get them. I used Rapala hj-14s last year and caught quite a few. Helsinki shad and chrome blue were the biggest producers. They are there now because i have been trolling in 6-10 foot of water after dark and picking them up. Usually the first hour after dark is the best time. With the good reports coming in you will have to get there an hour or two early to get a good spot.
I fished lakeside last night was a slow cold night out in the wind fished from sunset till 830 guy next to me got the only walleye I saw before I packed it up for the night I will be back to try it again soon
i had the same question last year and someone shared this article with me.
