I live in central Ohio and have not been up to see what the ice situation looks like. Has anyone heard of any walleye being caught yet ? I put in early season at Catawba and usually don't have to run very far. Thanks in advance for the information.

The modis satellite photos have been mostly clouded over lately, but looks like a lot was still iced over a couple days ago.

Grand River and small little inlets are ice free... to the lake...34 degrees is rough but getting better over the weekend, its almost time to sneak the steelhead in but I want to swear that not all of the walleye go to the west to spawn every year. There are rock piles and sand in the central basin in a few areas so I would like to find the "home grown" walleye earlier than May for once.
I was in Huron today and there is still a good ice pack on the main lake. Rivers and channels are open. Won't be long now.
Central Basin is fill of ice...just waiting for it to move out to find some smallies maybe April 1 if we are lucky
Took this picture 3/9/13 on the east side of Erie.
