Central Lake Erie Shore Fishing

Hello Everyone!

I hope you will be willing to help an “outsider.”

I grew up in Chardon and fished my childhood mostly on Lake Erie. We fished out of Fairport for many years and later moved our boat to Geneva State Park Marina back when it first opened. My grandpa had his boat near Toledo so I fished the Islands a lot too. I moved away over 30 years ago. I will be in the area soon to visit family for a couple of weeks. My son very much wants to go fishing as much as possible. And I want to take him too. The problem is that I no longer have any access to a boat (or the funds to take charters).

I don’t know anything about fishing on the West Side, I remember little about where to go on the East Side, and I never really knew too much about places to fish from shore anyway.

I would greatly appreciate tips (and as many details as possible) on places to fish. We would love to catch all kinds of fish (walleye, perch, catfish, etc.).

So…any recommendations on places to fish Lake Erie from shore? I know little about the area so details would be appreciated. I’m no threat since I’ll be gone again in a couple of weeks!

Note: We will be based on the West Side of Cleveland (North Ridgeville).
