There's a few people on Facebook that are using spoons and harnesses. They are killing them right now.
Heading up to Ashtabula tomorrow morning any advice would be appreciated
Divers
Went out Friday morning got on the lake about 5:30 1-3 footers so we stayed in about 40’ fow due to having only a 17’ boat caught a lot of shorts and 14 keepers in 6hr of fishing. Using worm harness and bandits.
Saturday 1’ or less so we shot out to 73’ caught 12 good keepers in about 4hr. Bandits were good and we used a antifreeze worm burner which caught the majority of the fish. Size of fish was 18-24”
great news on your fishing. we're going up to geneva on the 24th for a week. so any info on the fish will help us get started. but we're going to start with spoons and bandits. going to try shallow bandits on lite bite slide divers on one side and spoons on the other side. then we'll be running shallow bandits on my 2 downriggers. last yr wire ruled on my friend's boat. don't know if I can get away with it but we might try running wire. but I may try running 2 of them on my 16' outriggers. just chomping at the bits to get up there and start fishing. wishing all you guys lots of luck this yr.
I hope u have good luck on your trip! Let us know how u do.
Heading up Friday after work! Has anyone been hitting them with spoons.. last year at this time I was catching them on spoons.
Spoon bite is on!!
Went out of lake shore park Friday 23rd started fishing at 4pm first fished in the boat at 4:09 24” in 73fow on a big spoon red and black was the color… caught 8 keepers in the first 2 hrs! A couple shorts in the next hour so we packed up and headed southwest towards Geneva until we hit 40’ fow started trolling East back towards Ashtabula and picked up our last 4 in about 30 min using small spoons and a worm harness.. I’m not sure if the spoon bite is full go but they are hitting on them!
Heading out of Ashtabula today after work hoping to catch a limit! I’ll keep u guys posted on how we do.
Went out of lorain yesterday evening the magic color was a gold spinner and a white spinner the gold caught alot with crawlers.Good luck.
Fished out of lake shore park in Ashtabula Friday evening got out there about 4:30. Started off in 70 fow seen some nice marks but only caught 1 in the first hour. Picked up and headed out to 75 fow though maybe they were a little deeper plus I seen a couple boats out there in a pack. I was running 2 spoons and 2 harnesses on dipsies. Caught 3 but really had to work for them after about 2 hours we packed back up and headed in to that 70 fow again. Caught 4 more in 2 hours. Idk what’s going on but this trip was a struggle I talked to some guys and they said the samething about the bite! I’ll be back out next Saturday morning hopefully the morning bite is better! Good luck guys stay safe out there.
