Going to be fishing Fairport Harbor area this season. I've got some questions.
1) Does drifting with bottom bouncers work in this area?
2) If trolling, do I NEED planer boards? Do the in-line planers work?
3) If I need Planer boards, how do I know what size mast to buy?
Any help would really be appreciated -
Hey bud, I dont fish in that area, I fish out of cleveland and lorain but I dont use planer boards and we do pretty good. I do have the walleye boards that clip on your line and they work fine. use your jet divers with the inline boards. The dipsys pull too hard. Often times I just run dipsys on the 3 setting or a little past and that seems to put fish in the boat just fine. Good luck. Mike
I agree with Yobrick, masts and boards are not necessity items. My boat comes out of chagrin river just south west of fairport, we do really well from May til july on dipsies from shoregate to headlands. depending on boat set up a winner for me is dipsies off the side on 3setting. jets or dipsies off the back. if dips off back set on 1or 1.5 to get them slightly off the side. then put down riggers straight down. Fairly easy to run 6 rods with this set up and masts or planer boards Not necessary. hope this helps
Hey i am new to this, but i am planning on running out of geneva. I have a 19ft thompson and i am going to run two planner boards and two dipsy's off the back. Probably six lines all together i can run jets off my boards or full body baits
