Perch Friday 10/9/20- West of Catawba

2 man limit in 5 hours just north of the Green Bouy off Catawba State park. Fished from 9-2 and had 40 in the box by 1130. Fish slowed considerably and would start again in spurts. Finally pulled number 60 at 2 pm. 20lbs at cleaners. Most 8 inch fish with some 9's and a half dozen 10 plus. Mix of emeralds and goldies from Highway Bait (weak on the scoups this morning). Used straight in line rigs: 1/2 oz sinker; hook 3 inches above then another hook 10 inches above first. No extra beads or spinners. Bite was extremely light and most fish hit immediately when rig hit bottom.

Great report. I'm gonna try that rig out on Tuesday. Is that rig called drop shot. I'm liking the idea of not having a snell hook floating around so you can feel the bite better. Hope they hang around a little longer.

Definitely making the 3 hour trip tomorrow. Good report
