North East Marina 2020

First report this year. Friday & Saturday June 12 & 13. Headed out of the marina east to New York line. Trolled west just past Freeport. 50 to 55 FOW 1.8 to 2.2 Mph. We ran downriggers 40 to 45 feet down. Two Dipsey divers size 1 on three setting 125 and 135 feet back. One Dipsey size 1 on 0 setting 70 feet back and one Dipsey size 0 on 1 setting 170 feet back. We caught fish on all rods. We used Worm Burners and Mepps Syclops. Orange & Black, Red & Black, Fire Tiger, And Blueberry Muffin. One didn't seem to work any better than the other. We fished for about 5 to six hours each day. We limited out both days. One throw back at 12". The smallest keeper was 18" and the largest was 26" all the other were 20" to 22". We also picked up two Yellow Perch. Caught a few Sheepshead 22' to 24" and a few Silver Bass. Water temp was in mid 60's according to depth finder.

Second trip this year. Headed north out of North East Marina to the second 60 FOW. For those who don't know what the second 60 FOW is here you go. As your heading out the water gets deeper until you hit around 60 to 65 FOW. Then it will start to get shallow again around 45 to 50 FOW. If you keep heading out the water will start to get deeper again AKA the Mountain. We trolled from marina down to the W's. Most fish came from 60 out to 85 FOW. We ran down riggers 45' & 55' down. Two number 1 Dipseys on 3 setting 155' & 165' back. Ran two number 1 Dipseys on number 1 setting 115' & 125" back. All rods had Mepps Syclops and wormburners. Orange & black / red & black / purple & black. All worked well. We had two man limit Thursday by 11 Am. Two man limit Friday by 12 Pm and two man limit Saturday by 10 Am. We only caught about 10 shorts all weekend. Most fish were between 20 to 23 inches. Largest one was 26". Went out to 100 FOW ran down riggers 95' & 98' down picked up one nice lake trout 33' just shy of 20 Lb. Good luck to all.
