Hey there Gang. I've been out chasing whitetails so I have been away from the forum for a bit. Just wondering if anyone had some info regarding the Catabwa launch. I realize that docks may not be there. Thanks for any info!

Catawba ramps are closed (supposedly) until Dec 1st. There is currently a bunch of heavy equipment in place and a temporary wall to keep the water out while the ramps are being replaced. Given the amount of work being done, I have my doubts if it will be complete by Dec 1, but anything is possible.
I saw a load of concrete insulating tarp being delivered today. I also saw them getting another rerod ready for concrete looks like some concrete will be poured soon.
Hey you guys, thanks for the updates. Im thinking spring for this launch.. I appreciate your information...!
I took this photo on November 5th....they hadn't poured the concrete yet. Now, with this cold...who knows when it will get done.
Thanks Capt. Juls ! :)
Looking at that pic there is no way it will be finished any time soon! I’d hope it would be done by spring!
Concrete was being poured on Friday. They are moving right along. I'll check it out Monday and give an update.
Guard post being poured re rod is being laid also looks like they might try to pour next week
Thanks you guys.. Looking forward to using it.
This was Saturday.

A friend posted this on Facebook today....looks like it's getting there.:)
I can't tell from the picture, but I'm hoping they put a good texture in the cement, so the thick green algae doesn't make it slimy and slippery in the summer.
Thanks Capt.!
One step closer...they filled it in with the water...:)
Well, Its getting there, It looks like all the pavement will have to be redone too.
Thanks for the updates!
Stop buy Thursday talked to a worker he said 1-2 weeks before pilings are puled they have to move barge from another job. From the top of the ramp to blacktop was poured and covered.
Hey, that sounds promising! I know good hard ice is good for the Spring hatch but I would just as well fish from my boat than on hard water. Catabwa launch works real good for me in the early and late seasons with my rig. Thanks for the updates.
The turn around is asphalt for some reason they had the area in front of the launch covered it's uncovered today. I saw a job trailer at Mazurick's today here we go again.
I finally got my boat home yesterday Dubberts finished conversion but before I picked it I went by the state park they were pulling the sheet pilings about half done should not be long now.
last of the steel beams were being pulled today at C I state ramp
Thanks for the update!
You can use the launch now, but the floating docks are not in. They won't be back in until next year, when the ice goes out.
One more thing,
Has the lake been pretty much ice free around the edges in this area so far? I figure it would be but I suppose some ice could be in the harbor areas. I know this can change in a hurry. That stuff is rough on the hull.
Thanks,
Kent

I don't know why there are vehicles parked right in the path of the approach though? If they're pier fishermen, they shouldn't be parking there, now that the ramp is open.
Beautiful!!! Thanks Capt. Juls!
I'm gonna head up ASAP.
:)
Juls some people just don't care is all I can say. I got my g2s and am ready to go 88day's till spring
Lake and harbors are ice free...for now. Saw the ramp at Catawba today and it looks nice. Be careful out there. Cold water is bad news if there is a problem.
A week late on the post, but figured most would still enjoy. Stopped at the Catawba State Park Launch ramp on my way back to Columbus after Christmas with family in Toledo area. What a memorable Lake day.
Stopped into New Wave Scuba shop to pick up some equipment and talk local. Then headed home - but the Lake was so calm - not a ripple - so I headed to Catawba. Took a bunch of photos including the one below. Warm, dead calm, just a real notable day for late December. Talked to the guys fishing on the pier. Just general fishing talk. There were a dozen or so vehicles with boat trailers in the parking lot. Boats were coming in every 8-10 minutes. Stopped and talked to one on the way out. Nice setup - dedicated fishermen. They had tolling gear but after stopping several places they caught a limit west of Rattlesnake Island - jigging! The water was so calm they could keep the boat on spot using the GPS and trolling motor. They also caught some real big white bass.
The water temperature near "ice fishing" temperature so the fish are in winter mode no matter what the above water weather is like. I'd keep that in mind.
Let's hope the weather changes after this next week+ of way unseasonable temperatures.
