Wayne and Mike I would appreciate it if you would not follow me to where I am fishing!!! Go find your own fish!! When I make four direction changes on the way out and you just follow me and then you set up 100 yards from me!! It is not my job or all the channel grove captains job to put you on fish!! Go figure it out yourself. Officially annoyed!!!
Skipper9 , its the same old story with them . When they docked out West before moving out to Channel Grove , it was the same thing there . I was the first to say my say on this site about them and got blasted for doing so because "they help many people out here " .I was blasted for speaking up and saying what many others were talking quietly about among themselves that now you are witnessing . Many Captains called them "Tail Pippers" even then. Its a shame as to what they doas a so called Charter business with all the other Respected Captains that have put their time and energy in to make what the Charter Industry is on the Lake . There will always be a few bad apple but over time they will disappear .
Their open water season is starting up just like their ice season did with many problems and unhappy people . Congrats to the honest and hardworking Captains out there that made it with hard work and dedication .

Got to love you jim Capt juls gave us the imfor. a week ago. we ran three different captains sat. and all three ran different patterns and set up, moringing trip was close to kellys, afternoon we were by ourself and no one was closer than 1/4 mile from us, and at 6 oclock there was only two other small boats by us. As for location we have been working three different spots in this area since thurs As for lures our lures are different than everyone else and our speeds are allways faster than anyone else trolls. Have fun and a great summer.

Get your boots on, everybody. Make way for the 300 lb coolers. Iwas out saturday all over my end (far west) and got 1 walleye and one yellow. The white ones were very hungry though. A few big cats to bend the rods were fun. Drift and cast isn't filling my ticket yet but it still beats workin. Have fun, be safe, and keep the entertaining threads coming.

Just like the past winter where everyone was posting their bad times with "The Only Licensed 4 season Guide Service" and was told they were all making it up but yet POOF they disappeared to let everything calm down and hope people forgot. Always someone lying but it's never them. Karma will catch up with them.

Your absolutely right it is not a secret!! I prefer not to fish in a area by the reelsport team!! I came out or the channel and headed toward NW corner of kellys and they follow me. So I turn and head toward so I take a hard left toward starve and yes so does reelsport!! So I again I take a hard right and go back toward NW corner of kellys and so does reelsport!! So I again turn and head toward starve and so do they. I just don't understand!! And then set up a 100 yards from me!! The other boat that was fishing with me behind reelsport was laughing his but off.
Half pole it's ok you don't half to stick up for him he will still take you fishing for free!! Your his friend and I respect that!!

We all have friends. Just like you are sticking up for reelsport. I am sure you were not ask too. I have not ask anyone to give there opinion. The other poster on this post (lakeerieguy) I don't know him I don't know anything about him. He formed his opinion after his own obervations. Just like the other captains at channel grove after a year of observing the actual catches and the reports. It just gets old. I will help anyone that asks!! So I say let karma fall where it should!! I am always honest to everyone.

If everybody ran honestly we would never be having this conversation. Then you have a captain that "tail pipes" another captain. It's only going to lead to fireworks. We were all just fine until a boat moved into our row. During the winter they were being blasted on here, OGF, Facebook, and Iceshanty.com that I know of. So I wouldn't say it's just some of us "cronies" trying to start something.

Not everybody has, nor do they want a Face Book account! Walleye dot com is not face book, It is Walleye Dot Com. whose reports forums were designed to give fishing reports, recently there were some major changes/enhancments made to Walleye Dot Com that pertains to posting pictures, making it easier to do so.Quote:

Yes there is some bad blood here on Walleye Dot Com right now. I do not know nor have I met either one of these people (Captain Jim or Wayne/Mike). I do know this and it is not a pleasent thought, Wayne and Mike have had bad publicity not only on this site but on at least 2 other sites by affected people who are far removed from this site, ice fishing was the topic on the other sites, but bad publicity just the same. Some of the publicity was worse than bad and was alluded to by some of their paying customers.
On the other hand I have been a member here since 2009 and have never read nor have I heard of any complaints about Captain Jims(Skipper 9) charter operation, that does not mean that they do not exist it just means that I have not read any nor have I heard any by word of mouth.
Channel Grove Marina is one of the premiere marinas on Lake Erie's western end for quality highly respected Charter Captains. It used to be that if someone would ask me who they should book a trip with for the Islands area east to Vermillion I would suggest they book with any of the captains moored at Channel Grove. With all do respect I can no longer do that, I will let you and all of the others sort it out why I can not do that any more.

I agree completely with you... except that I would like to assure you that 99% of the captains at Channel Grove are still top notch and I would go with almost any of them there. Please don't let one bad apple ruin your opinion. There are over 200 slips there and they are bound to have one or two that aren't the best. I am not a charter, I simply fun fish on my private boat so I have no stake in the charter business at Channel Grove, and I am not promoting any specific captain. But Channel Grove is still by far the premiere marina in the West end and please don't change your opinion on a single docker there.

It is not about the fishing! It is about Honesty and integrity, Charter Captains and Guides are supposed to have both as well as as a good sense of humor. They charge a fee to take people fishing and they should be able to produce some fish on their own. There in lies the problem, chasing ambulances does not a good injury lawyer make. Obviously you have never been burn't or lost money to one of these outfits that have no scruples. Drop 5 or 6 hundred bucks on one of these guys and you would feel differently. It reflects badly on all of the honest hardworking Charter Captains that do not rely on others to find their fish for them. It also gives their home Marina a Black eye so to speak.Quote:

let me just say that skipper 9 not only responded to a request for information about his custom perch rigs. He also set one to me so I could tie my own.. A great help for a new perch fisherman. I grew up on the western basin driftin / castin erie dearies back when the limit was 10. Wasn't really hard to find the fish back then, pick a spot,start your drift, cast out count to 10 (remember the count down method) start catching fish when that shuts down make another drift,and repeat. That worked or quite awhile. Then came the zebra muscles, cleaner water and tougher fishing. Not as many guys still runnin boats for hire as there were back then. The guys who are left are working there ass off to put people on fish. I witnessed capt sean from EYEHUNTER put 400.00 in gas in the boat after a trip that they charged 550.00 for. They fished hard all day to produce fish, not makin much when u figure in the cost of everything else. That is what its all about, givin all u got to make someone happy. These guys ( jim, sean, eric ) are top notch people who run a top notch business. They are also very personable people ( theys guys are a roit ) catching fish is a bonus. They are willing to share all they know about what they are doing ( no secrets here) just fishin. You want to know just ask, they will not only tell u why but show u how. When you can learn something and have fun at the same time that makes for a good time. FIRST CLASS speaks for itself no need to brag.

In Jim I trust. Having fished multiple times with Jim, Erik,Shawn and DJ, I've seen how generous they are helping others get on a working program. I have never shyed away from recommending them to friends and business associates. If Jim say's he's being tailpiped then he's being tailedpiped. End of story.
I want everyone to know that I enjoy helping the average fisherman get on the water with equipment and techniques that work. There is nothing wrong with using the informatiom that is posted on this site so long as it is truthful and given in good spirit, also there is nothing wrong with asking for help if you are struggling, whether that is on this site or VHF radio while on the water.
I cannot stand those who would post false information to put a feather in their dunce cap and then laugh at those who followed their advice. I don't know which is worse those who post false reports just for laughs or those who post false reports to promote their business and or to enrich themselves, in the end they both cost people money that relied on them for truthful information.
I don't get to fish as often as I would like to as I have a commitment to my 92 year old Mother who started having issues last year! Since she can still get around (walk) and needs only a helping hand with her daily activities (meals and medicines and financial), so instead of shipping her off to a nursing home I/we my wife and I decided to move her in with us and look after her for as long as it is feasibly possible.
With that being said when I do get out fishing I do it on my own, I do listen to the radio and do help now and then if asked. I have never followed anybody around and have never moved to another location unless I was working with a few others in my group of friends, some of which I know only from here and have never had the opportunity to shake their hand. I just find it more rewarding to be independentnt and not have someone else to blame if things go south for the day.
I know the feeling of being shadowed and do not like it. Although I am no longer a Captain I had my day as a Charter Captain and that is why I feel the way that I do. I had 2 different people come to me and ask me why I followed their Charter Captain of choice and I asked them how I could be following them if I was in the lead! It just goes to show you how low the unscrupulous Charter Captains can be. He left me or another Captain lead him to the fish then he would tell his clients that I or the other Captains were the one who was shadowing. I finally called this guy out right in front of his clients in order to clear the air so to speak.
While I don't enjoy the fighting, I think it's good to call out the guys that deserve it. It's the only way common folk like me can know who to trust. Anyway thanks to everyone for teaching me so much.
Nothing of value in this set of posts to the average fisherman just looking for good old fashion fishing reports and helpful advice. I'm moving this thread (and all others like it) to the "Outdoors Lounge" forum. This is a more appropriate site for this type of bar room chit chat. No Bar Room Brawls though, please.

I do not disagree that non reports should not be allowed in a reports forum and should be moved to the lounge! I hope that you do not decide or see a need to bar me from the forums but I feel that I have to speak up!
With that being said, I really do not like to stir the pot and am not looking to get into a pissing match with the site Administrator but feel that the Western Basin posters have been and are being singled out about non-reports in the reports section.

By your own definition, it is full of "bar room chit chat". Where is the fairness in scolding the posters in the Western Basin Forums and moving their non reports out of the Western Basin Fishing Reports Forum to the Lounge while still allowing the vast amount of non reports "this type of bar room chit chat" in the other fishing report Forums, both the Central and Eastern Basins. A non-report is a non report and the content of such report is irrelevant beyond the fact that it is a non-report in the reports forum.
