When do the walleye return in numbers to the western basin? Looking to do some fall/late fall walleye trolling this year, and curious if it is even worth it?
I miss slow trolling at 1.1 sog in the spring, ready to do some more!

Pay attention to the moon phase also. During the Full moon and clear nights, the walleye tend to feed all night long. When the sun comes up the walleye head to the bottom and lay flat on the bottom. The afternoon they start to rise up and feed again. Use this guide to plan your day. The walleye are coming back and we will have new moon in couple weeks. These cool nights help. The daylight is also changing fast and is the beginning off the fall feed bag fest.
Yeah, good point. It has to be pretty darn nice for me to head out to west sister.
I tried casting this morn for about 45 min. No luck. Seem to be marking a lot of fish about 7ft down in 15 fow but I can't say ill ever know what they were. We are too anxious I guess but it didn't hurt to give it a shot.II'm glad I also took shiners, had a field day on perch. (Sunday perch limit thread)
Where you catching the bluegill. Everyone is going to think il crazy. But i think bluegill is the best tasting fish there is.
Out of my marina. Lost peninsula in point place. They are going crazy right now. A smallmjighead with small tubes or twister tails have been getting slab size pumpkinseeds and blue gill. I won't argue about your taste for the gills, althoughnmy favorite is walleye. The only bad thing is my marina is in michigan water so the daily panfish limit is 25
Thats funny because Saturday during the high winds we caught a bucket full of nice bluegills from the dock and some 9 inch bonus yellow perch. It made a great fish fry saturday evening around the camp fire. They were delicious. ...
how do you normally clean bluegill?
Tumble in the slick skin for 12 minutes and then bust out the electric knife.

Since I do not prefer the skin on, I just fillet like perch or walleye. Quick and easy.
