CATFISH.....How big do they get in Lake Erie?

Caught one that weighed 17 pounds. I'm sure they get much bigger. What is the largest you've seen from Lake Erie? World record is 58 pounds in 1964. NY record is 32 pounds. Can not find a record listed for Erie.

What species of cat? Channel is what I'm assuming your talkin about. Flatheads get huge. So do blues. I've personally seen flat heads that dwarfed a 30lb flat on a stringer. Bet they went 100lbs. Mouths about 12" across. And that's in Lake Erie by 18 mile creek.

Yes, I was speaking Channel Cats. Are you saying there are Flatheads in Erie? Just wanted to know how big Channels get in Erie.

Not bad for an erie cat capt, they get bigger over here in the swamp though think it's all them yrs of toxic fall out here from Niagara falls industrial area. LOL. oh and I see you figured out how to post a pic to boot. Must be Barry has really taken you under his wing!! LOL :D

I weighed it on a 30 pound max limit scale and it was pegged at 30. So at least 30, but I would guess not much more. That reservoir gave up a 55 pounder the next year. Got mine on a shad rap casting in a shallow weed bed for walleye. The 55 was taken on a bluegill during a catfish tourney. After that I bought a 50 pound scale, which is the one in the photo of the 17 posted earlier.

The unit on my windshield is a battery powered LED light.
