When's the perch bite start replace the floor in my boat and would like an idea when I need it to b ready
I'm a little ways west of walnut (just west of cleveland). We try to get out as early as possible but i would say around the first week in may for perch. Lets the air and water warm up a bit so you're not freezing out there
Thanks for the info just got my own boat last year and wasn't sure when they turn on can't wait to get on the water
I would expect them to start hitting any day now. Im gonna head out in a week or so maybe even this week to see what is happening.
Good luck can u post you're results I'm looking forward to coming up but I don't want to waste my time being I'm 2 1/2 hours away thanks for any info
Sure will. Gonna head out to Oak Harbor a couple times this week to pre fish for the tourney. Walleye Eyes are hungry there now. Will keep you posted on the perch if I hear anything. You can also give Mike a call at Shines bait and Im sure he would give you some good info. He is at the E55 exit and is an excellent supply for bait and info.

Did very well last Saturday. Ran out of minnies. Had 2 citations also, mine was 1lb and 7z (15" & 9" girth) and my nephews was a 1lb and 4z at just over 14".
Guys been doing well last 2 weeks in 30-40 fow. I was in 39fow. Not sure if I'll get out tomorrow, thought was to be a bit bumpy.
Thanks for the report Steve did you go out of walnut?
Thanks again for the info Steve I'm trying to get up this weekend for the first time this year I'll post a report its nice to have some fellow anglers sharing info
Buddy is out now, only has 14. He works in a local baitshop too and said since the Lake flipped recently, the perch are slow, he has only 14 right now and heading in because starting to white cap. But the walleye are on fire. A friend caught over 80 walleye in the tournament and won it. They were tossing walleye back by 9:30am. The walleye are in the same fow as the perch, yesterday 45fow was hot.
Started perching Saturday morning around 7 off of trout run 42 row same place I was Friday only caught 3 all morning nobody was catching any. Please help I never seen it that slow . what happened ??????
Me and my buddies stop perching bout week and me 2 ago. It's all walleye now and it's hot. We won't start perching again till September fully. May take the kids a few times this summer but mainly walleyes. Perch seem to be smaller now when on them. The perch boats off the point aren't lighting them up either, tons of junk fish. My buddy was by u today and had 2 limits of eyes and back in walnut before 9am. Other buddy went off the point and had 3 limits of eyes in an hour.
Nice batch but threads out of walnut. Kind of think your not fishing in the area due to your limits are higher if 300 and 5 guys where PA is 30/person.
Nice catch big Dave u guys are on fire
Seen a lot of trollers out yesterday that's what I should of been doing. I'll b back up in a couple weeks and heading out to the ditch.thx for the post Steve keep them coming
In the past week the Yellow Perch have left the area...Friday was Slow, Sat. was Very slow and Sunday was non-existent. Burned 5-7 gallons each day looking, so was very expensive effort with little results...but that's fishing.
Trolling for walleye was better but the white bass made that a test of endurance rather than a pleasant expedition.

Is this normal with this Time of year didn't start perching till late July last year and we always got on them. As far as trolling for walleye I trolled for a couple hours on Friday with my girlfriend and after getting all the lines out on the boards twice and all I got was silver bass I gave up too much work for one guy. Hopefully get back up after the 4th any help is appreciated
I know its always hot in Connie/Ashtabula for eyes and perch. Around here its tougher it seems. Some days you can be on them and next notta chance. On facebook watch the head boats post there days catch for perch. They've been sporadic as well.
As for the eyes, they're on fire right now and anywhere from 39-65fow. Like that 25-30 foot range.
Thanks for posting the information guys. First trip in from Central PA, this year. We planned to target perch this weekend, but sounds like we should try 'eyes on first. Thanks again.
Best thing is to follow Poor Richard's on facebook for their reports if out of town.
Here's todays:

Yesterday was a bad day it was 4 to 6 footers. Today it is 2 to 4s and it is supposed to calm down a little to 1 to 3s. They have been getting the perch in 45 foot off of trout run. Good numbers and good size. The walleyes they have been getting in the same area all the way out to 70 foot of water. The bigger ones are out farther. They have been doing really well on the eyes. Tomorrow is supposed to be a little calmer and Sunday is supposed to be calm in the morning and picking up by afternoon with 30 knot winds. Good luck and happy fishing
Hello all. First I will say this is my first year really walleye fishing and hoping to learn a few tricks. Went fishing on the 4th early Morning about 6am. Was out about 6 hours and did not catch a thing not even a bite. Wonder what I'm doing wrong. Was marking fish. Had 6 rods out at different depths with 2 jets and 4 dipseys. Tried runing purple and gold harness and tried all different kinds of reef runners also. Trolling about 2mph. Have about 8foot leaders on dipseys also. And about 50fow . I keep reading on here of everyone catching all these fish and wondering what I'm doing wrong. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.
Got on the water about 7 went nw out of walnut to 58 fow slow pick all nice fish 12-14 inch range picked 22 for 17 lbs at the cleaner
