Does anyone know what's going on with the Weather Buoy? There is still no data coming from it. ??? Last year it was up and running by now. I like checking the wave height and water temperature. Is it shut down? Cost cutting?

Don't forget we had a freak of nature last year, 75 degree weather in march. I was curious myself and pulled this off of the history:
45142 | 474A1622 | 42 44.2 N | | 3D08 | | | E: Buoy deployed successfully at |
| Port Colborne | 33E | 79 17.4 N | 1 0 1 0 1 1 1 | | | | 1930Z, 20 May 2011. |
So according to their historical data 2 years ago it wasn't deployed until may 20th
Any day now I think
Thanks - for some reason I thought it started transmitting when the shipping season opened. But you know what happens when you relay on your memory.
:D The WEATHER BUOY IS UP AND RUNNING! :p :D They must have started it later in the day. I checked earlier and it was still down. I love that data that it transmits.
Is there a ling to get to the weather buoy? My lame computer skills are not helping me find the information.....
Google bouys. You will have to click around until you get the one you want and save it to favorites. that's what I do.
Or captjoe could post links he finds in useful links thread seems you did the searching already. Hey joe i hope your working this weekend? Lol
Well the Captain is off this weekend. :D At least it looks that way now. I would post the links if I knew how. ?? Bailey you have to teach me some day. It's probably easy. But I don't know how to get them from the phone or computer to this site. ?? I am trainable! :)
Milt - we bit the bullet Monday and lost the game. It was embarrassing. I was not called to action. We will regroup and go again Friday.
The boat is almost ready. I'm getting there. More tweaking to do. I may have a consultant coming over tomorrow to discuss options. It will probably cost me a few bottles of Kishel Scents. ;) Rumor has it that stuff really works.
Joe, you just copy and paste the link that you want to post. If on computer. Hold down left mouse key and scroll to highlight desired link. Then right click on mouse and select copy. Then go to the forum and go to post. Then right click mouse again and select paste.
From a phone, pretty much the same thing. My iPhone I just hold my thumb on a link and it gives me options for it. And I just copy and paste.
Here's the link

I found out that the wave height reported for the weather buoy 45142 is measured from calm (or what would be flat water) to the peak of the waves. So when you're in a boat you experience twice that since you go from trough to peak.
It is one of my favorite fishing weather websites.
So when the weather buiy say 1-3 ft, it is really like 2-6 ft when you are in the boat b/c you go up and down 6'.
Also when the Bethlem Steel windmills are turning at >10 rpm, you can expect some wave action esp. further out.
Unfortunately Rick the wind mills don't work that way, they change the angle of the blades to keep the turbines from spinning too fast. I live in Sheldon where we have near 100 turbines in my back yard and they do this all the time.
I say if they would turn the fans(windmills) off we would have less wind & waves ! ;):D
