should i buy smaller beads to make it less bulky, how do you make weapons. thanks for the advice.
that size of bead is fine for 2 hook harnesses or later in the season with large cupped colorado blades, you also have the wrong blade, pictured is a blade found on most weight forward spinners, not a computer genius here but will try and get some pics posted..check some of the posts lower on this page.....
Ok im gonna go to highway bait and tackle and gets some blades there what color do you reccomend, ive heard that gold is pretty good as well as silver but im not sure. thanks again for the advice eriepro!!

I know you can't see all the beads, but on this harness they are mostly green on this harness. #4 and #5 blades are average sizes though I do have from #00 to #8 to cover the many way's I use harnesses. This is NOT a weapon, it's just something I've been playing with. 1oz inline with a short harness. It will just give you an idea on how to tye your harnesses. I keep all my harnesses rolled up on a foam noodles with a 3/4 oz jig stuffed into the end so they won't blow out of the boat. If I get a chance later I'll make a weapon harness and get it posted.

ok thanks for the info im gonna get some indiana blades/ colorado blades and a bunch of other stuff and just mess around with it like make different sizes and stuff like that thanks again for the info guys its greatly appreiceated
Ok, here's a weapon, for running a full crawler. When you switch to the mayfly type, you use 3 to 4 beads, a #2 or #3 blade typically in brown/gold shades w/1/2 crawler.

Well you could start using them now as some guys are taking fish on harnesses around the islands. But yes, mid may on is typical.
I'm not an expert, but thought that this might help. Remember that weapons, or mayfly rigs, simulate a mayfly that has hatched on the bottom and is beginning to head to the surface. When making them, think dainty, you are trying to mimic a mayfly fluttering to the surface.
Mayflies usually appear in Mid May. The last couple of years the weather has pushed them back into mid June (at least the peak) if I remember correctly. You will know when they arrive in full blast once you arrive at the Lake.

im goin out this weeknd thats why i wanted to know but if jigging isnt producing too much ill probly drag a weapon/ worm harness along the bottem in hopes that a fish will hit it.

fish 24, I've been using weapons for a few weeks now and doing quite well on bigger fish, most mornings early i'll hit the reef areas for the jig bite, then pull off into the deeper water & cast weapons for spawned out females, sunny days are best with the surface water warming by early afternoon... good areas to try are north of cone and flatrock also northeast of niagara halfway to green island. fish are suspended usually 5 to 10 feet down.
We are getting into the transition to worms. We took fish in different ways over the weekend. Bare jigs, jigs tipped with worms or minnows and bottom bouncers with harnesses are a worm. Water temp is 53-55. Walleye ares still on top of the reefs as well as the surrounding deeper edges and did see some suspended 10-12 feet off bottom. Actively feeding, taking the whole jig in the mouth. Males spewing milk says its still happening but the water temp says the end of the spawn is near.Quote:
