Nice catch, thats the third good report i heard this year of walleye in the boat!!!
WTG. I have the boat in the driveway and batteries on charge. A few early spring "to do's" and I am with ya
I'm just waiting for the mud to leave. I'd be out there today but I have to work:mad:
I went out of WW on Monday. It was calm for once, Sunday was a blowing mess. Was out from 12:30 to 5PM. Water temp was 39 - 40 degrees. Clarity was like chocolate milk. Was marking fish, but did not catch a thing. Tried all of my tricks. No ice on the shores or anywhere I could see. I'll Be Back!
I launched out of WW and pretty much stayed between the D-B cooling tower and West sister. Jigged with a purple Vib-E, trolled with a LifeLike perch colored shallow running lure. Drifted dragging a purple worm harness baited with some minnows I had and was casting a one ounce Rooster Tail.
so ampted winter is over and want to get on the water but I've got to wait another 2 weeks due to my job. WTS, it's muddy here also. ;)
Was anyone out this weekend(Mar 26-27) ? Trying to decide if I want to come up this coming weekend or wait till the weekend of the 9th. Thanks
I would watch the wind. As long as the Northeaster/East/North/Northwest winds keep coming I wouldn't waste your time. Noaa is not looking good. Below is the link.

The satilite image is showing the water clearing up out in front of wild wings, No rain projected all week, Very light wind projected for the rest of the week.. I dont know about you guys but it looks to me I am gonna be netting some fish.. FISH ON...
I quess i have a differant view of light winds. In my book any less than 15mph is a light wind and fishable.. It looks like noaa is projecting 2 ft or less all week.. If you check out the satilite view the water is clearing already out in front of wild wings.. Plus the noaa forecast is for the entire lake(this time of year they dont seperate the two sections) I hope you are wrong.. I will let you know after the weekend I am going in friday am to start the year
Friend caught a couple but the water temp is still too cold. we need a thunderstorn from ft wayne to toledo to flush warm water in. That's the missing ingredient so far this year. I would focus more on the reef complex due to water clarity condirtions right now.
Good Luck and Good Fishing
Please send a warm thunderstorm
New to the Forum, been monitoring for a few years and respect the input that you guys have shared... just wanting to get out there and give it a try, just that I am 3 hours South and was hoping to give it a shot this weekend (Sat or Sun), out of Wild Wings... should I just stay home and wait a week... don't want my cabin fever to overtake my common sense... just that jiggin' is my favorite and 2 or 3 good trips is all I get a chance to make to the great lake!
GANGWEST. I would wait 1 week. The stars, moon, and sun are not aligned yet. We are having a very cold spring with little to no rain. The water temp is low and so is the clarity. If ya only get 2 or 3 chances I would wait a week and let us locals let ya know when its on. I will be out there this weekend but based upon reports it's still a little slow. fish here--fish there. Not 3-4 fish per drift and re drifting every 200 yards or so. The water temp needs to come up another 4-5 degrees. Pray for heavy rain and warm thunderstorms.

Hey now, we need warm weather but no big storms which will carry a lot of silt down the Maumee, churn the lake up, and cover the eggs with a lot of silt.
Just light winds and lots of warm sunny weather.
Thanks "J-69"... I will take your advice and wait a week. Forecast if it holds true looks like a slight warm up, but still behind for this time of year isn't it? http://www.intellicast.com/Local/Wea...ation=USOH0719 Also, I have seen other links posted about the Satellite Images and wind forecast and it becomes a daily ritual to check them out... this is one that I found that I like, hope you like it. http://radar.weather.gov/Conus/full_loop.php
Happy Hooker bait shop posted some promising news that some guys are catching some limits. Anyone else been out recently and have a report? Good or bad? Thx. DoubleD

My bro has been out a bit. They've not been doing bad, but also not good. I'm going out tonight while it's still calm. NW wind tomorrow DARNIT!
Hey, guys... it looks like the weather may cooperate by Saturday/Sunday.. with the recent weather coming through and again mid week.. shouldn't the "eyes" be ripe for the Jig bite? Unless, you think its a total waste, I am going to make the "3hr tour" drive and give them a try...
I think it will be hot this weekend, and worth the 3hr tour. Last weekend they were catching some fish but by no means they were jumping in the boat. From what I heard they did better around turlte island witch is near maumee bay. But I would not count out the reefs in the ohio shore line. Lets just hope weather man dont change his mind. good luck
Making my first trip up this weekend to try out the walleye bite. Traveling up from WV, we will arrive Fri and hopefully be able to fish some in the afternoon and will make a day of it Sat. This is my first trip with my boat. I have fished the area before with Charters. Any help from you guys on location and areas to try would be greatly appreciated.
Lots of good info on here, maybe after this weekend I can add to it.
Locust reef or stay in the bay is best this time of year. I hope the weather holds out for you.
Probably going to launch at lamberjack's or wild wings, but I am flexible. Looking like weather is going to kill us on friday, so a day spent in the hotel. Hopefully Saturday holds for us. Long trip to just sit in the hotel.
weather report is looking up for the weekend wind on friday not good but sat and possibly sunday looks very promising! anyone with a new report on the fish would be good. what depth of water were they catching them in near the turtle reef?
Good Luck guys!!
Thanks for the info. Would the bay be calmer with those wind conditions?
Only fished Erie a couple of years and I usually go out of Wild Wings area and fish reefs. what is the "pear" you guys speak of?sounds like it is in the western bay area? Do you mean Pier? just curious. Never fished that area.
thanks guys
stop by mienkes friday to check on boat and get fish report,
thurs the pear was hot boat limits in two hrs. or less, today
3 to 6 ft. waves out of northeast water getting muddy fast
2 to 3 fish per boat, best colors white and purple, will be out

first 3 of the season.
SAT. 4/9, Launched out of Wild Wings. Stayed close, and fished East and West of Bessie... picked up 8, and lost one... 7 on Purple, 1 on JD Green... didn't kill em, got most of them before Noon.. East wind... others seemed to do fair to good... looks like cold weather again after a really nice Sunday... what will this do to the bite? I will be back on Sat. 4/16, fishing with Seabreeze Charter... was contemplating staying and fishing my own boat on Sunday, but just not sure what this weather will do to them
