Is any one else fishing the tournament this weekend?
Every year I get in , looks like typical weather for the start of the tourney.
We will be in the water all week. Hope the "eyes" will be hitting better than last year, 8.6 was the best I could do. Good luck to all....
Sat 6/7/8 (678, cool !)
I'm not entered but will be fishing all next week weather permitting. The Armor Firehall is too far away to go and register, so I'll just hopefully catch some walleyes.
Beenout last 2 weeks trolling with harnesses in between Bflo water intake and Athol Springs all the way to 18 mi creek with no luck. Only sheephead and perch.
Anyone having any luck yet ?
Out today till noon, water got rough, wind picked up. Only managed a good sized perch! Even more amazing is that it hit on a six inch stick bait. Went out Sturgeon point then West to Evans bar, fished from 20 fow to 55 fow, zippo on the "eyes" However I did hear on the two-way someone got a 29.5 incher at just over 9 pounds! Lucky guy!! Heading for the Cat tomorrow, will post if any action reported there when we get back in, tight lines to all.
With the water temperatures being in the high 50's to 60, the walleyes are in the top of the water column. They are not using structure, just warmer water and they are feeding on the bait up there. Use 20 jets with harnesses or stickbaits along with boards to get the lures away from the boat. The night fishermen are doing okay on top in the shallows, especially at the Evans Bar. All the fish I am marking are 15 foot and above on my graph. Actually the bottom is mostly empty except for bass.
jimski,
what speed and bottom depth are you fishing? I just got a boat this year and was trying to get suggestions on trolling speed and where to start trolling in regards to depth of the lake? i am going out of small boat harbor
Thanks,
Jerry
Out today and hit them pretty good. Managed four in the box from 5.68 to 7.8 pounds. With the water temp going up looks like they may start the bite. Fished in 45-55 fow with harnesses. Lost three before we could get them near the boat. All in all a great day..... tight lines to all
odie1 mind telling where you were ? Sounds great. Don't worry we aren't in the tourney.
Hey Walleyerick....
Went out the Catt, fished west towards Dunkirk. Tight lines.....
We run our harnesses about 1.6 to 2.1 MPH on the GPS. Tne walleye seem to be everywhere except under your boat where your graph is looking.
Is it ever going to stop blowing???:confused::confused:
i went to my home town lake to try a hour or two and i think i casted 5 times and the wind started blowing and it blow harder than i have ever saw there i thought a twister had touched down thats how hard it blow nice talking to ya
thats the only thing i dont like about Erie you can only fish when it will let you
Fished yesterday out of small boat harbor; trolled for 3 hrs into 20 mph WNW winds toward Sturgeon Pt in 40 fow. Water temp 60. Nada. About 3 the winds died down and we were able to relax a bit. Tomorrow (Fri) we will try again.
All in all we trolled 6 hours all around by Beth Steel and intl marker buoy using harnesses one rock, one stick and one small perch..
been picking up a few between the sbh and the mouth of the niagra after sundown
What did you catch those on?
Four days of fishing from 7:00AM to noon yielded 9 walleyes, 20 to 24 inches. Our best action was 30 to 40 foot bottom depth, jets with harnesses, green blades were good.
Good day today!!!! Managed five in the box, and all no less than 7# and no more than 8# Slow start this AM, water and wind rough. About 9:30 it started to lay down and the bite was on for a few hours. Doesn't look too promising for tomorrow, winds & high waves, keeping fingers crossed for the closer on Sunday. Harnesses, blue/green worked good today. Tight lines to all & above all be safe!
Odie,
what general area were you fishing?
Thanks,
Jerry
Hey Jwiner.....
We go out the Catt, fishing west toward Dunkirk. It's usually a good area. Tight lines.....;)
Yesterday (Fri) we went out off Sturgeon Pt and were all over from 30 to 60 fow and got nada. Our motor gave us trouble so we decided to quit while it was still running. When we got back in there was a boat with a big bag of eyes, probably 6-7 fish and about 30-35 lbs worth. He got em off SP. Motor's in the shop for now. %$&%#%
blasting them outside of hamburg sat night:)
the top of the leader board is at 12.16and the 9 fish under that are 11lbs. plus barcelona is the place to be
Sabercuts,
Are you using stick baits? we are going out tommorrow night out of SBH. What depth are you fishing? Are you off the windmills or futher down towards Hamburg? Appreciate the advice, we have been catching a few but would like to catch more.
Jerry
