Do I tip my jig with a minnow?
Yes, i guess i always do tip my jig, just doesn't seem right not to bait the hook on anything that's not a crankbait or spoon.
Vertical and casting and bouncing both have there place. I never waste money on minnows as jigging is a reaction bite so not needed.
My favorite is blade baits. I do fish jigs when I can't get the blades to go. I do tip with gulp most of the time just to increase the profile of my jig. I let the fish tell me how they want it that day vertical or casting. One the most important things is boat control, make sure you are not moving to fast so you can stay in contact with your blade/jig at all times.
The last few years we have jigged with no minnows, most of the time out early back with limits normally by 9. We normally cast, but when I get close to boat I normally spend a min or two vertical on each cast. Sometimes you pick that that follower up.
You see just as many ppl doing both methods, and just as many tipping and not.
