dunno how many of you were out of the lake yesterday (8/8/11), or by the bass islands for that matter, but it was an awesome event. funnel clouds dropping out of the sky, one after another, finally had one reach the water and went about 75 yards north of us. it was only about 15-20 yards wide so i dont think it would have done much damage, if any, but so crazy. have a video on my phone, will try to upload on here for you guys

Years ago I was near Green Island and we saw several reach the water that day. It was a awesome sight. With that cool air moving in and the very warm water your chances of seeing them go way up!!!! The waterspouts we saw were real defined and like you said about 15 yards or so across.
Saw them on the local cleveland news. Seen 3 in my life and they are always cool to see
Saw one last year in August when we were at the restaurant next to Commodore Perry in Port Clinton. It stayed up fo quite awhile but finally came down to the water. They are pretty awesome.
